WARREN, JAMES F.
James F. Warren, 78, of East Hartford, died Monday, December 10, 2001 surrounded by his family at Hartford Hospital, Hospice Unit. James was born in East Hartford to Patrick and Ida (Johnson) Warren on June 20, 1923. He was the soul mate and beloved husband of Eleanor (Carlson) Warren for 50 years. He was the loving father to Sheila, Jeff and Beth. He also leaves three adored grandsons, Justin, Brendon, Jeffrey; and also a daughter-in-law Betsy. He also leaves a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Helen and Jesse “Lenny” and brother-in-law, Wilburt; and many nieces and nephews. James was a charter member of the Faith Lutheran Church of East Hartford for 50 years. He was a proud member of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving his county from 1942-1953 during World War II and the Korean War. He received many medals and three Purple Hearts. He was a member of the distinguished Carlson’s Raiders; and participated in the battles of Guam, Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima, Bougainville, Okinawa and Inchon. James was a member of the Purple Heart Association and the National World War II Memorial. A memorial service will be held Thursday evening, December 13, 7 p.m. in the Faith Lutheran Church, East Hartford. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Following the memorial service a reception will take place in the Parish Hall. There are no calling hours and Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. Jim’s family is grateful to the Hospice Unit staff for allowing him to live his last days without pain, with dignity and peace.
