WACHLIN, ALVIN F.
Funeral services for Pfc. Alvin F. Wachlin, 22, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred C. Wachlin, Freeport, Route 3, will be held Thursday afternoon, Jan. 20, at 1:30 o’clock at the Eichmeier & Becker Funeral Home.
Rev. Edwin A. Arends, pastor of St. John’s Evangelical and Reformed Church will officiate. The Freeport Allied Veterans Association will have charge of the military service, and Dr. D. H. Bokhof, chaplain of American Legion post, will read the committal service at the grave in Oakland Cemetery.
Pfc. Wachlin entered service on Nov. 4, 1942, leaving with a group of two hundred Marines from Rockford. He went overseas in April, 1943, and was killed in action in the South Pacific area on July 21, 1944.
He was born Oct. 31, 1921, in Freeport. He attended Dakota High School. Before entering service he was employed at Kraft Foods Company.
Surviving are his parents and two sisters, Mrs. Lester Wagand, Cedarville, and Mrs. Elmer Woodley, Dakota.
