YOUNG, CHARLES R.

Charles R. “Chuck” Young Sr., 85, passed away Friday, May 29, 2009 in Tucson, Arizona. He was born in Rockport, Indiana on January 27, 1924.

Chuck was a U.S. Marine in the First Raider Battalion in WWII. Chuck came to Wellton, Arizona in 1951 and owned Valley Home Furnishings and did refrigeration repair until his retirement in 1986. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #6790 and a member of American Legion Post #0019 for over 40 years. He loved fishing and reading.

Chuck is survived by his wife Annie “Ann” Young; sons, Charles (Jodi) Young Jr. of Phoenix, Arizona and Bill (Becky) Garner of Wellton; daughters, Emma (Alan) Ohrt of Niceville, Florida and Beverly Moore of Wellton; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at the “New” First Southern Baptist Church of Wellton on Monday, June 8, 2009 at 11 a.m. Following will be a celebration of Chuck’s life at the VFW Post #6790 in Wellton.
