POLK, LEE R.

Lee “Russ” Polk, 92, of Dryden for 50 years, formerly of Rochester, went to be with the Lord Thursday February 27, 2014.

He was born February 16, 1922 in Flat Top, West Virginia to parents Charles and Daucie (Lane) Polk. He married Nola Jean Iler on February 22, 1947 in Big Beaver.

Mr. Polk proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps in the South Pacific during WWII. He returned to work as a mason, he loved laying brick. Russ even used his work skills in many charitable structures from Fairview, MI to Mexico. Church was always a part of his life; for many recent years, he attended Hadley Community Church.

Mr. Polk is survived by his wife of 67 years: Nola Polk, children: Mark (Sharon) Polk of Hadley, Brian (Barbara) Polk of Marian, Delton (Dorothy) Polk of Rochester Hills, Nancy (Phillip) Sweeten of Dryden, 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, brother Duane (Mary) Lilly of South Adams as well as many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Benjamin & Daucie Lilly and brother: Walter Polk.

Visitation will be 2-6 pm Sunday at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. The funeral service will be Monday, March 3, 2014 at Hadley Community Church, officiated by Pastor Gordie Lindsay. Burial will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly.

Memorial contributions may be made to Camp Barakel, Fairview, where Russ built over 30 fireplaces.
