LINDER, DAVID B.
David B. Linder, age 80, of Loretto, formerly of South Minneapolis, died March 28, 2003. He is survived by his devoted wife, Verna, of 55 years; son, David & daughter-in-law Catherine; sister, Priscilla Lea, and niece, Cindy Lea. Preceded in death by daughter, Linda Lee Waller; parents and sister, Velva Moen. He was a graduate of Roosevelt High School. He was called to active duty during his senior year. David was a Navy hospital corpsman and always served with the Marine Corps. He was discharged December 1945, recalled to active duty August 1950 during Korean War, retired as HMC. He served 7 years active duty and 27 years reserve time. He joined the Minneapolis Police Department October 1954. Sgt. Linder worked in many areas, several precincts, B of I and community relations. Because of his background, he taught first aid and emergency medicine to police and fire departments, Red Cross, Heart Association and many other groups. He retired in 1980, but continued to teach. He worked security for National City Bank for many years. He volunteered for the National Park Service. He sang with the ASI Male Chorus and Morris Park Singers for many years. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church for 47 years and a member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church since 1999. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Fleet Reserve, Edson’s Raiders Association, Second Marine and Minneapolis Retired Police Officers Association. Memorial service 11 am Saturday, April 5 at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, Plymouth – 5005 Northwest Blvd (intersection of Northwest Blvd. & Schmidt Lake Road). Memorials preferred to American Parkinson’s Association, Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Research, Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church or Faith Lutheran Church (South Minneapolis).
