KALIX, JOHN F.

KITTERY POINT — John F. Kalix, 53, of Gerrish Island Lane, a retired Portsmouth Shipyard employee and World War II veteran, died unexpectedly yesterday [June 3, 1973].

He was born in Philadelphia, Pa., Sept. 16, 1919, the son of Paul and Sophia (Spline) Kalix.

He had been educated in the Philadelphia schools and served in the Marines for nine years with the Marine Raider Battalion. From 1947-49 he was employed at the Kidder Press in Dover and the Seaward Construction Company. He attended apprentice school at the Portsmouth
Naval Shipyard and was employed as a pipefitter for 20 years, retiring in 1967 as an inspector. He had been a custodian at the Mitchell School, Kittery Point, for the past three years.

Mr. Kalix had been a member of the AFL-CIO Union, Division of Painters; National Association of Federal Employees and a member of the First Christian Church of Jittery Point.

Survivors include his widow, Jessie (Waldron) Kalix; a son, John F. Jr. of Portsmouth; two
daughters, Mrs. Nancy Bardier of Las Vegas, Nev., and Mrs. Barbara Kenney of Kittery Point; one brother, Paul Kalix of Philadelphia; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Simpson of Drexel Hill, Pa., and Mrs. Ann Watkins of Somerdale, N.J.; nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
