JONES, THOMPSON

Thompson “Tommy” Jones, 77, of Rocky Point, died Aug. 2 [2000] at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington. A memorial service with Masonic rites will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Jones Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville with the Rev. Eric Jones officiating. Burial with full military honors will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.

He was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley; 2 daughters, Laura Jones Watts of Rocky Point, and Elizabeth Shepard of Raleigh; 2 sons, Stan T. Jones and George Lee Jones, both of Jacksonville; a sister, Gertrude Jones Aydlett of Jacksonville; 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
