HOPKINS, WILLIAM M.

William Mitchell Hopkins, 83, of Memorial Drive in Paris died Thursday, December 19, 2002, at his residence.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at McEvoy Funeral Home.

Jack Thacker of Grace Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Walker Cemetery.

Chosen as pallbearers are Danny and Monroe Robbins, Charles Hopkins, Jerry Byrd, Billy Winchester and Glen Stephenson.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Saturday.

Born in Henry County on Nov. 2, 1919, he was a son of Charlie and Nettie Weaks Hopkins, both deceased.

He was married to the former Dorothy Frances Valentine, who died April 21, 1989.

Hopkins retired from Campbell Rhea Manufacturing, later Mohon International, as a finishing department supervisor.

A life member of the VFW, he was a World War II U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving two years in the South Pacific.

He leaves two sons: Glenn (Marilyn) Hopkins of Paris and Bryan “Mickey” Mitchell (Mary) Hopkins of Knoxville; one sister, Katherine Hensley of Austin, Texas; six grandchildren: Tom (Luann) Castle of Henry, Teressa (Chuck) Jones, Mechelle (Stanley) Chilcutt and William and Shea Castleberry, all of Paris, and Bryan A. Hopkins of Houston; and four great-grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by four sisters: Ruth Trobaugh, Elsie Robbins, Virginia Kiefer and Lillian Thompson; and two brothers, Roy and Murray Hopkins.
