HONEYCHURCH, WILLIAM C.
William C. Honeychurch passed away peacefully [March 31, 2012] in his own home at the age of 86 with close family members by his side. Our dad was born May 21, 1925 in Seattle Washington. In 1942, he was employed at Nemco Electric Co for 6 months before entering the Marine Corps at age 17 and fought proudly for his country in World War II. During his time in the Marines he was deployed in the South Pacific islands such as Guam, Bougainville, Guadalcanal, New Caledonia, Kwajalein Atoll and Okinawa. Dad was wounded on Okinawa in the left thigh in 1945, he was discharged from the Marines and was sent to Sand Point Naval Air Station to recover from his injuries. He was a Marine Raider from the Sixth Division and was awarded the Purple Heart for his brave service.
After returning from war, Dad married his childhood sweetheart Marian Bjourndahl on January 25th 1947 and had three wonderful daughters, and 57 years of a happy marriage.
In 2003 his wife Marian passed away. Dad was fond of old cars and owned many. He loved sports, especially football and baseball. He loved to laugh and joke around. He will be remembered as a very patient, understanding, loving, caring dad, grandfather, and great-grandfather to all. He will be missed by all that cared so much for him. In place of flowers, dad would like remembrances to be donated to the Juvenile Diabetes foundation.
The family would like to thank Dad’s primary care physician, Dr. Carol Sheckter, for all her passionate help and care for our Dad at such an emotional time.
Inurnment on Saturday, April 14, 2012 in Evergreen Memorial Park.
