HAMMOND, CHESTER L.
DOLTON – Funeral services for C. L. (Red) Hammond, 34, who died Friday [May 13, 1955] in Willow Creek, Calif., after a short illness, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Bockman Funeral Home in Dolton. Burial will be in the Dolton Cemetery.
Hammond, who formerly operated a bakery in Roseland and a tavern in Dolton, moved to California last January. He grew up in Dolton, and served with Carlson’s Raiders in the Marine Corps during World War II.
Survivors are the wife, Alma; his father, Guy, of Calumet City; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Hansen, Dolton, and Mrs. R. L. Walder, Hammond; and three brothers, Daniel, who is serving with the armed services in Korea; Guy Jr., who is with the Army in New York, and L. E. of Bishop, of Calif.
