GRIGGERS, MILTON A.
HALTOM CITY – Milton A. “Patches” Griggers, 79, a retired U.S. Postal Service supervisor, passed away Monday, July 8, 2002, at a Haltom City care center.
Funeral: 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Mount Olivet Chapel. Burial: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home.
Milton was born Nov. 25, 1922, in Olney, Texas. He lived in Fort Worth most of his life. He graduated from Carter-Riverside High School in 1941.
He served in the South Pacific Theater in the 4th Marine Raider Battalion in World War II. He participated in four major engagements and was wounded in action.
He was an avid outdoorsman and was a member of the National Rifle Association and a lifetime member of Marine Raider Association.
Survivors: Sons, Melton and wife, Judy Griggers of Haltom City, Larry Griggers of Dublin and Terry Griggers of Weatherford; grandchildren, DeeDee Bocanegra of Fort Worth, Bubba Griggers of Glen Rose, Sherilyn Stephen of Dublin, Terry Griggers Jr. of Weatherford and Cody Griggers of Thailand; and eight great-grandchildren.
