GREENWAY, PAUL J.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Paul Joseph “P.J.” Greenway, 68, was offered today in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 2315 Seneca St.

He died Sunday [Nov. 29, 1992] in Mercy Hospital after a two-week illness.

A World War II combat veteran, Greenway served with the 3rd Marine Raider Battalion from 1942 until 1946, island-hopping in the Pacific from Guadalcanal to Japan. He held numerous combat decorations.

Born in Nashville, Tenn., Greenway moved to Buffalo after the war and went to work with the South Buffalo Railway, retiring as an engineer in 1976.

He is survived by his wife, the former Margaret Gallagher; four sons, Glenn, Gary, David and Daniel; a daughter, Dixie Lee Beyer of Ocoee, Fla.; a sister, Mary Catharine Tarpy; a brother, Lawrence of Hamburg, and 12 grandchildren.

Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Hamburg.
