DEDEAUX, GLENN R.

Glenn Ray Dedeaux Sr., 29, plant superintendent of Dedeaux Packing Company, Gulfport, died at 6:40 p.m. Thursday [July 15, 1954] in the New Orleans Veterans Hospital following several years of failing health.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ruth Durr Dedeaux; three children, Glenn Ray Jr., Kenneth Warren and Cathy Ann; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Loran Dedeaux, Orange Grove community; four brothers, Nary, Jack, Curtis and Alvin Dedeaux; and four sisters, Mrs. R. D. Byrd, Mrs. Larry E. Newman, Mrs. Edsel Stewart and Mrs. Dickie Stewart, all of Gulfport.

Mr. Dedeaux was a member of several civic and fraternal orders of Gulfport and was particularly interested in the development of the livestock industry in Harrison County, spending much of his time supporting this work. He was a native of Gulfport.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Elks, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Gulfport Chamber of Commerce.

As a member of the 3rd Marine Division in the South Pacific during World War II, he participated in several raids prior to the actual invasions of hostile beaches.

He was severely wounded during the invasion of Guam and was passed over by an enemy bayonet attack, believed dead.

His citations include the Marine Presidential Citation, the Purple Heart, the Oak Leaf Cluster, the Pacific Theater of Operations with three Bronze Stars, along with many others.

His body will remain in New Orleans until Saturday morning when it will be returned to Riemann’s Funeral Home for services there Sunday at 3 p.m. Rev. P. S. Dodge will officiate. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
