BEDFORD, DAN L.
Dan L. Bedford “Jack”, age 87, of Appleton, passed on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at Cherry Meadows Hospice after a brief battle with cancer. Jack was born in Yale, OK on March 5, 1925 to the late Frank and Ethel (Clemons) Bedford. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II in the South Pacific. He was united in marriage to Loretta Mortell on July 9, 1945; they shared 55 years together until her death in 2001. Jack was a longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Appleton. He worked in sales for many years with Luebke Roofing and Brennan-Fraser Roofing. After retiring, Jack volunteered his time at St. Joseph’s Food Pantry.
He will be sadly missed by his five children: Barbara (Charles) Bedford-Geisler, Ithaca, NY, Joanne (Steven) Cloud, Appleton, Mary (Mark) Welhouse, Appleton, David Bedford, Healdsburg, CA, and Michael Bedford, Minneapolis MN; sister-in-law Ione Ryan, Oshkosh, good friend Maxine Kettenhofen, Appleton, and six grandchildren. Ironically, his first great-grandchild has a projected due date of March 5, 2013 which would have been Jack’s 88th birthday.
