REIDY, ROBERT C.

Robert Conlon Reidy died Saturday [September 27, 1997] in San Francisco. He was 75.

A native of Plainfield, NJ, he came to the Bay area in 1971. After leaving New Jersey in 1950, Mr. Reidy worked for various railroads throughout the West and Northwest as a section hand until his retirement in 1971. Mr. Reidy served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1942-45 in the First Marine Division 3rd Raider Battalion, Company E and saw combat at Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands and participated in landing operations and occupation on Pavuvu, Russell Islands, Solomon Island Group. He was a member of the U.S. Marine Raider Association, VFW Post No. 6309 of Gilroy, Marine Memorial Club of San Francisco, 1st Marine Division Association World War II.

He is survived by his brothers, Walter N. Reidy of Dunnellen, NJ, Edward M. Reidy of Morgan Hill, Howard E. Reidy of Lyons, NJ, John L. Connolly of Windermere, Fla.; sister, Kathleen Connolly McCann of Dunnellen, NJ; cousins, Joseph Maier, Harold Maier, Donald Maier, Donald Maier, Thomas Maier, all of Dunnellen, NJ, Denise Conlon Reagan of Milltown, NJ, Terrance Conlon of Toledo, Ohio.

Mr. Reidy was cremated and his remains scattered at sea.

The Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for the Repose of the Soul on Oct. 16 at 8 a.m. at Most Holy Redeemer Church, Diamond and 18th streets in San Francisco.
