GUILLEMIN, EDMOND L.

Former Jamestown resident Edmond ‘Gill’ Lucien Guillemin died Dec. 22 [2010] at his home in Carson City, Nev. He was 86.

Born in Raymond, Madera County, to Lucien and Vi Guillemin, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific during World War II and was in Japan during the surrender.

He worked as a correctional officer at prisons in Soledad and Jamestown, and was a rancher, gold miner and storyteller.

After retiring for the California state prison system, he ranched in the Mariposa area. He later moved to Carson City.

Mr. Guillemin is survived by his wife, Esther Guillemin, of Carson City; daughters, Gail McCormick, of Cottonwood, and Shirley Clay, of Mount Vernon, Texas; stepsons, Dan Rahn, of Sonora, and Mike Rahn, of Jamestown; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucien and Vi Guillemin; and his brother, Roy Guillemin.

A service has already been held.

The Neptune Society in Carson City is handling arrangements.
