Funeral services for Clyde Ray Gaulden, 86, of Hudson, will be held Wednesday, September 2, 2009, at 2 p.m. in the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with SSgt. Stephen Brent Roach and Pastor Bryan Lipscomb officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park. Mr. Gaulden was born March 4, 1923, in Fort Necessity, Louisiana, to the late Althea (Chandler) and George J. Gaulden. He died Saturday, August 29, 2009, in a Lufkin nursing facility. Mr. Gaulden had resided in the Hudson-Lufkin area since 1984. He was retired after working as a machinist for more than 30 years. Mr. Gaulden served as a United States Navy combat corpsman attached to the Marine Raiders Detachment during World War II. He loved his family and loved to read his Bible. Mr. Gaulden was a member of Providence Baptist Church. Survivors include his daughter, Beverly Roach of Hudson; son and daughter-in-law, David and Kathy Gaulden of Lufkin; son, Ricky Gaulden of Hudson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Chandler and Irma Jean Gaulden of Monroe, Louisiana, Tommy and Mary Gaulden of Goldonna, Louisiana; sisters, Gloria Dean Milford of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Georgie Gray of Rison, Arkansas; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. Mr. Gaulden was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Gaulden in 2006; his grandson, Will Roach in 1978; and six brothers and sisters. Pallbearers will be Christopher Gaulden, Amy Landis, Rachael Gaulden, Brent Roach, Michael Gaulden, Ricky Barley and Bobby Epperly. Honorary pallbearers are Andrew Gaulden, Larry Landis and Randy Kirkland. Memorial contributions in Mr. Gaulden’s name may be made to the charity of your choice. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home, Lufkin, directors.
